AVITA ry – Code of Ethics for Members
The membership structure of the industry association covers the entire audiovisual production and presentation technology sector: manufacturing, wholesale, equipment sales, rental, presentation technology implementation, design and consulting, contracting, maintenance and service, and software development. The work of its members plays an essential role in the development of society and the environment. Members are expected to continuously develop their professional skills. Their judgement and professionalism must be respected and trusted by customers and society. The entire membership of AVITA stands behind the following fundamental principles worthy of society’s trust.
It is the duty of an AVITA member to:
A. SOCIAL AND PROFESSIONAL OBLIGATIONS
- Accept professional responsibility when serving clients and society.
- To continuously maintain the prestige and reputation of the audiovisual sector and to represent its profession in all its activities, so as to further enhance its reputation as a responsible sector requiring high technical skills and good business practices.
- Contribute to the fact that customers choose suppliers primarily on the basis of their professionalism, experience and qualifications.
- Seek solutions in line with the principles of sustainable development in their activities.
B. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Closely follow technical developments and changes in regulations and legislation in the sector. Maintain and develop professional skills, particularly in the fields of work practice development and management, and serve clients with care, diligence and the best possible skills.
- Refrain from providing services for which you are not sufficiently qualified.
- Use appropriate installation and measuring equipment and take care of safety at work.
C. RESPONSIBILITY; LOYALTY, CONFIDENTIALITY AND INTEGRITY
- To act in accordance with the client’s legitimate objectives and to carry out the assignments with integrity and loyalty.
- Not to damage the business and reputation of other entrepreneurs.
- Not to directly or indirectly seek to displace another company carrying out the same contract and not to continue work on a site interrupted by another company without explaining the reason for the interruption to the other company.
- Commit not to use so-called “grey” labour and to follow only generally agreed rules in their labour policies and beyond.
- Ensure the correct and timely payment of taxes and parafiscal charges due to the company, as well as employees’ and self-employed persons’ pension contributions and the like.
- Comply with competition law.
- Consider the environmental impact of the company’s operations and working environment, and the products they use, in both the short and long term.
- Commit to treat confidentially any documents provided to him by his client and to take into account copyright and other issues related to them.
D. EXECUTION OF CUSTOMER ORDERS
- To carry out the assigned tasks with care, skill and integrity so that the result of the work meets the requirements of the client, the general quality standards of the industry and good practice.
- Refuse to carry out any installation that is contrary to the safety regulations and instructions.
- Use proper installation practices, skilled installers and safe materials to ensure safety.
- Inform the client if there are any facts or contradictions in the order, plan or other documents related to the work or the client’s requirements that may prevent the desired result.
E. IN A PROFESSIONAL CAPACITY
- Be impartial in the advice, assessments and decisions they give.
- Inform the client of any discrepancies in the performance of the assignment.
- Not to offer or refuse to accept any remuneration that would influence the selection process of the expert or affect the expert’s independent activities.
- Promote the principle of selection of experts on the basis of merit.
- When checking the work of others, carry out their duties in a professional and fair manner.
- Cooperate well with other parties, such as the contractor, other companies and the authorities, when investigating potential problems or irregularities.
The Code of Conduct for Members was adopted at the Annual General Meeting on 15 December 2015.
