List of tasks in performance engineering design

The presentation design task list helps to define the role and responsibilities of the presentation designer in a construction project. It supports design quality assurance, task scoping and design package management – and is an annex to the design contract.

What is the to-do list?

The list of tasks in presentation technology design is a guideline by Rita Ilola and published by AVITA, which describes the typical tasks of a presentation technology designer and their results.

The to-do list can be used:

in defining the scope of the presentation designer’s tasks

to support the management of the planning package

as part of design quality assurance

as an annex to the design contract when selecting the appropriate presentation technology designer for each project.

Why is a presentation designer needed from the start?

Performance technology is an essential part of performance spaces. It has a strong impact on the functionality of spaces and affects several design disciplines – in particular architectural design and electrical design.

When a presentation designer is involved in the early stages of a project, you can:

take into account the overall spatial, technical and operational requirements

avoid costly changes at a late stage of design or construction

ensure that the presentation technology supports the needs of the users and other solutions in the space.

What does the to-do list contain?

The task list lists the presentation engineering design tasks required for a typical presentation space and the outputs of these tasks. The list is specifically designed for large performance spaces (e.g. theatres, halls and multi-purpose venues), but can be applied to building projects of any size:

for new buildings

renovations

in the case of space changes where the presentation technology is upgraded or extended.

The task list helps to ensure that no key areas are overlooked in the design and that the presentation technology is seamlessly integrated with the rest of the building services and space planning.
